Arun Singhal

Arun Singhal is a creative and innovative Western Music Producer known for crafting modern, expressive and genre-blending soundscapes.

The Biography

Arun Singhal is a visionary music producer, virtuoso guitarist, and sound designer who specializes in pushing the boundaries of Western contemporary music. Known for his meticulous ear and highly innovative approach to sound synthesis, Arun has established himself as a powerhouse in the Jaipur music production scene, turning basic acoustic demos into massive, arena-ready anthems.

His productions are characterized by lush, cinematic textures, aggressive and tight rhythmic grooves, and pristine audio quality. As a guitarist, Arun is heavily influenced by the raw emotion of blues, the groove of funk, and the technical complexity of modern progressive rock. He often weaves complex, organic guitar riffs into his heavy electronic and pop productions to create a signature 'organic-meets-digital' sound that is entirely his own.

Arun’s journey into music production started out of necessity. Unhappy with the generic beats available online, he began learning digital audio workstations (DAWs) to create backing tracks for his guitar solos. This quickly spiraled into a deep obsession with synthesizers, drum programming, and acoustic treatment. He realized that the producer is essentially the invisible conductor of a modern orchestra.

At 12NOTEZ, Arun oversees complex, multi-layered production projects, from initial beat-making to final sound design and arrangement. He is an absolute expert in modern DAWs like Ableton Live, utilizing advanced MIDI routing and generative sequencers to create sounds that have never been heard before. He helps independent artists achieve a massive, international sound without compromising their unique artistic identity.

Arun is also a master of 'the hook'. He understands the psychology of modern music consumption and arranges songs specifically to keep the listener engaged, using ear-candy, dynamic drops, and sweeping transitions.

Musical Journey

Arun's musical roots lie in the heavy riffs of 90s rock and metal. He spent his early teenage years locked in his room, relentlessly practicing sweeps and arpeggios on his first electric guitar. This obsession with technical proficiency gave him the strict discipline required for his later transition into electronic music production.

His paradigm shifted when he discovered the limitless possibilities of software synthesizers. He realized he could apply his deep knowledge of guitar scales and chord voicings to digital instruments, creating entire symphonies from a single laptop. He began blending heavy guitar riffs with dubstep basslines and trap hi-hats, finding his unique production voice.

After years of freelance production, Arun co-founded the sonic architecture at 12NOTEZ. Here, he has access to high-end analog gear which he seamlessly integrates with his digital workflow. Today, he is the producer that other producers go to when they are stuck on a track.

In-Depth Q&A

Q: How do you blend organic instruments with electronic beats?

A: It's all about 'pocket' and swing. If the electronic beat is perfectly quantized to the grid, I make sure the live guitars or bass are played slightly behind or ahead of the beat. It creates a beautiful push-and-pull dynamic that makes the track feel human and alive.

Q: What is your approach to sound design?

A: I never rely entirely on presets. I like to start with a basic sine or saw waveform on a synth and shape it with LFOs, filters, and analog saturation until it fits perfectly into the mix. Unique sounds give a song its identity; if you use the same preset everyone else uses, your song sounds like everyone else's.

Q: What advice do you have for upcoming producers?

A: Finish your tracks. It's easy to start a 4-bar loop, get bored, and start a new project. Force yourself to arrange the song from start to finish. You learn significantly more from finishing one mediocre song than from starting twenty great loops.

Q: Why do you prefer Ableton over other DAWs?

A: Ableton's Session View allows for non-linear composition. I can trigger different loops and test arrangements live before committing them to the timeline. It treats the DAW itself as an instrument rather than just a tape recorder.

Q: What is the secret to a huge drop or chorus?

A: The secret to a huge chorus is actually a quiet pre-chorus. If everything is loud all the time, nothing has impact. You have to suck the energy and the low-end out of the track right before the drop so that when the bass hits, it hits like a truck.

Q: How do you avoid creative burnout?

A: By stepping away from the computer and picking up an actual instrument. When I'm tired of clicking a mouse, I plug my PRS into a loud amp and just play the blues for an hour. It resets my brain.

Q: What makes a great guitar solo?

A: Melody over speed. A great solo should be something the audience can sing back to you. Speed should be used as a spice at the end of the phrase to add excitement, not as the main course.

Q: How has 12NOTEZ changed your production workflow?

A: Having instant access to incredible vocalists and session musicians like Sudeep and Manish means I don't have to rely on MIDI instruments for everything. Replacing a MIDI piano with Manish playing a real grand piano instantly elevates the production.
